Lucía Aguirre-Montana, LMFT Associate

Individual and Relationship Therapist
Philosophy and Approach:
I believe that we are all the experts of our lives, and lived experience creates context for how we understand ourselves and our environment. Everyone is also in constant relationship to a system—whether it be a couple/family system, or systems of oppression that folks are forced to navigate—and the systems that we are in relationship with can have a lasting impact on our lives; sometimes through acute/prolonged trauma, and/or intergenerational legacies that are passed down and cause harm to our authentic selves. Together we will unpack your unique experiences and honor the thoughts and feelings that show up throughout the process.

My practice involves working collaboratively to tailor therapy to the unique and individual needs of each client, while incorporating a psychoeducational approach. I listen attentively to the stories that each client is carrying and provide language/context that will assist clients in naming their experience because I believe that knowledge is power. I apply an integrationist approach to therapy, incorporating modalities from narrative therapy, structural therapy, contextual therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I approach therapy through an anti-racism/anti-oppression, culturally competent, systemic, and trauma-informed lens. I am also sex worker positive, queer competent, kink friendly, and non-monogamy affirming.

Sliding Scale Fee Structure: Owls’ Nest North is committed to making services accessible to everyone regardless of ability to pay. We seek to catch those who fall through the cracks of care in our current system. My sliding scale is determined by the current fee schedule of Owls’ Nest North. If you are un- or under-insured and therefore forced to pay out-of-pocket, please let me know prior to our first session, so we can determine your eligibility for a sliding scale fee. If you are experiencing difficulty navigating the new healthcare system, we are also happy to support and advocate for you in becoming insured.

At this time, I am only available to see OHP subscribers and cash/out-of-pocket payers. My fees with a cash-pay discount are: $80 for individuals and $100 for couples/families.

Cancellations: Occasionally life intervenes and prevents us from following through with our commitments. I trust our mutual respect of one another’s time. As such, it is our policy to collect my full session fee for no-shows and sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.

If you are an OHP client, our contract does not allow us to charge for missed appointments and we would not want to, but we are unable to hold a regular appointment space after two missed/late cancelled appointments. You can, however, schedule into cancellation spots on your clinician’s schedule.

Bio: I hold a master’s degree in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from Lewis & Clark College, with a specialization in Sex Therapy. My training includes relationships, sexuality and intimacy, gender identity, trauma, life transitions, as well as anxiety and depression. I have previous experience providing therapy services in Spanish, and I have a background working with kids/teens, individuals, couples, and families.

I am also a BIPOC, femme, child of immigrants, Spanish-speaking, and queer identifying individual, and these pieces of my identity are what I bring into the therapeutic space.

Licensure: I am a board-registered, Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and am under the clinical supervision of Sawyer Salameh, LPC and Torey Andrus, LMFT. I adhere to the code of ethics set by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and Oregon Licensing Board (OAR chapter 833, division 100).
