Mandy Owensby, MSW

Individual and Relationship Counselor
Philosophy and Approach:
I approach time with clients from a somatic and trauma/ACES-informed perspective. This means that together, clients and I will notice emotional or physical cues that there is tension, pain, or distress in the body and address opportunities for processing somatic memories. I also work from a place of honoring an individual’s story and the power that personal storytelling can bring to healing.

My somatic toolkit includes Mindfulness practice, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Neurobiological Approach to Stress and Trauma and Relational Social Work. I trust the client’s ability to know when they are ready to move through experiences, feelings and events in their lives, and I enjoy partnering in the exploration of their social and emotional patterns. I also strongly believe in providing psychoeducational support to understand the nervous system and its cues so clients may gain explore their mind-body connection and developing intentional practices.

Story is one of the most powerful ways an individual can express their lived experience, desires and aspirations, and we may use art, poetry, music, and movement to develop the therapeutic relationship and an understanding of the client’s journey. We are constantly seeking to become aligned with our innermost selves and to tackle this lofty goal, is to come face to face with any obstacles or challenges to our own becoming. To be ourselves is the height of human experience and I aim to provide opportunities to look at the day to day rhythms of change in an individual’s life as well as the qualities that provide meaning and value to their lives.

Sliding Scale Fee Structure: Owls’ Nest North is committed to making services accessible to everyone regardless of ability to pay. We seek to catch those who fall through the cracks of care in our current system. My sliding scale is determined by the current fee schedule of Owls’ Nest North. If you are un- or under-insured and therefore forced to pay out-of-pocket, please let me know prior to our first session, so we can determine your eligibility for a sliding scale fee. If you are experiencing difficulty navigating the new healthcare system, we are also happy to support and advocate for you in becoming insured.

At this time, I am only available to see OHP subscribers and cash/ out-of-pocket payers. My fees with a cash-pay discount are: $80 for individuals and $100 for couples/families.

Cancellations: Occasionally life intervenes and prevents us from following through with our commitments. I trust our mutual respect of one another’s time. As such, it is our policy to collect my full session fee for no-shows and sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.

If you are an OHP client, our contract prohibits us from charging for missed appointments, but we are unable to hold appointment space after two missed/late-cancelled appointments.
