Sajani Patel, LPC

Individual and Relationship Counselor
Philosophy and Approach:
I believe that people have the capability  to create change, adjust to adverse experiences, and overcome  hardships. I also believe in the resiliency and power in people to  learn from mistakes, build skills, formulate positive perceptions,  create healthy relationships, develop a sense of security, heal, and  be happy. In our work together, you can expect a safe and supportive  therapeutic space and process. My style is open, strengths-based, and  collaborative. I am also direct with humor and compassion. My  therapeutic perspective is rooted in attachment and identity development work with a strong understanding of childhood and adult development, an awareness of individual and family culture and systems, and  extensive knowledge on the impact of trauma on overall health. My  approach is integrative and utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy  techniques, Narrative Therapy techniques, trauma-informed somatic  approach, attachment models, mindfulness, expressive therapies, and  play therapy. I consider multicultural and holistic wellness  perspectives based on my training as a psychotherapist and personal  experiences as a first generation-born person of color.

Sliding Scale Fee Structure: Owls’ Nest North is committed to making services accessible to everyone regardless of ability to pay. We seek  to catch those who fall through the cracks of care in our current  system. My sliding scale is determined by the current fee schedule of  Owls’ Nest North. If you are un- or under-insured and therefore forced  to pay out-of-pocket, please let me know prior to our first session, so  we can determine your eligibility for a sliding scale fee. If you are  experiencing difficulty navigating the new healthcare system, we are  also happy to support and advocate for you in becoming insured.

At this time, I am only available to see OHP subscribers and cash/out-of-pocket payers. My fees with a cash-pay discount are: $80 for  individuals and $100 for couples/families.

Cancellations: Occasionally life intervenes and prevents us from  following through with our commitments. I trust our mutual respect of  one another’s time. As such, it is our policy to collect my full session fee for no-shows and sessions cancelled with less than 24  hours notice.

If you are an OHP client, our contract prohibits us from charging for missed appointments, but we are unable to hold appointment space  after two missed/late cancelled appointments.

Bio: I have been a therapist for nearly 15 years with clinical  supervisor and program managerial experiences. I obtained my masters  degree in Counseling from California State University, San Bernardino.  I also obtain a graduate certificate in Couples and Marriage Counseling  from Portland State University. I am certified as a Child-Parent  Psychotherapist. My experience involved early childhood mental  health, parent-child relationships, parenting skills, separation  anxiety, attachment work for families, trauma-work, adult attachment  styles, couples work, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, PTSD,  chronic health concerns, interpersonal neurobiology, racial and gender  identity development, grief & loss, and life changes. Finally, I am a  racial equity trainer & consultant and I have a strong awareness of the  impact of social injustices, institutionalized racism, systematic  sexism and homophobia, trauma, and toxic stress on individuals,  children, couples, and families.

Licensure: I am a licensed professional counselor within the state of Oregon. As a licensee of the Oregon Board of Licensed  Professional Counselors and Therapists, I abide by its Code of Ethics.
