Anna Brown, Student Intern

Individual and Relationship Therapist
Philosophy and Approach:
Life is made up through our experiences and making sense of your story might feel painful or scary to joyous and illuminating. My hope is to walk alongside you, listen curiously, and figure out how counseling can help – whether that be cultivating self-compassion, addressing depression and anxiety symptoms, or processing grief. In any of these cases, I believe healing happens through the connection we make together. Collaborating to build a trusting space is the foundation of my work, one where you feel safe to non-judgmentally explore your thoughts, feelings, relationships, and beliefs. I utilize a psychodynamic approach to counseling, which allows us to reflect on your past experiences and be curious about how they may impact your present, while also incorporating somatic interventions to help bridge the mind-body connection. Additionally, my approach centers on a multicultural and social justice orientation—meaning that our conversations will naturally include your cultural identities and the broader contexts of your lived experience.

Sliding Scale Fee Structure: Owls’ Nest North is committed to making services accessible to everyone regardless of ability to pay. We seek to catch those who fall through the cracks of care in our current system. My sliding scale is determined by the current fee schedule of Owls’ Nest North. If you are un- or under-insured and therefore forced to pay out-of-pocket, please let me know prior to our first session, so we can determine your eligibility for a sliding scale fee. If you are experiencing difficulty navigating the new healthcare system, we are also happy to support and advocate for you in becoming insured.

At this time, I am only available to see OHP subscribers and cash/out-of-pocket payers. My fees with a cash-pay discount are: $45 for individuals and $65 for couples/families.

Cancellations: Occasionally life intervenes and prevents us from following through with our commitments. I trust our mutual respect of one another’s time. As such, it is our policy to collect my full session fee for no-shows and sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.

If you are an OHP client, our contract does not allow us to charge for missed appointments and we would not want to, but we are unable to hold a regular appointment space after two missed/late cancelled appointments. You can, however, schedule into cancellation spots on your clinician’s schedule.

Bio: I am a white, queer, neurodiverse cis-woman. My clinical experience includes issues related to neurodivergency, supporting clients with disabilities, addressing trauma, and exploring avoidance or anxiety in relationships. I also specialize in addiction treatment for individuals with chemical dependency, process addiction, and recovery maintenance, as well as loved ones who have been peripherally impacted by addiction in their lives. I have lived in Oregon for the last 7-years and am so grateful to call it home. Before attending Lewis and Clark’s Graduate School for Clinical Counseling, I feel I lived 100 other lives. I have worked in many different helping capacities – from an ocean lifeguard in San Diego to a preschool teacher in Portland – working with people and being involved in the local community are true loves of mine. When I’m not at Owls’ Nest you can find me at band practice, singing and playing guitar, going on walks by the river, and playing with my cat.

Licensure: I am a graduate student intern enrolled in the Professional Mental Health Counseling program at Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling, working under the clinical supervision of Maddy Gribbon, LCSW. I abide by the code of ethics set forth by the American Counseling Association and the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors (OAR chapter 833, Division 100).
